Izumi is constantly embarrassed by her dads

Zukka as dads means everything to me I'm crying

Zuko being a way better father than his own ever was?? Breaking the cycle?? Holding their little face gently instead of burning them. Sokka being there for his kid?? I love Hakoda, don't get me wrong, but him leaving his children for war messed them up so much and man... Sokka being a father who'd be able to love and hold his kid everyday. I just think they're neat.

having a lot of thoughts about a career day type situation at izumi’s school and she begs both her dads to come, and like, they can’t say no to her so they go. and all the other parents go up and talk about what they do for a living but everyone the whole time is like um. the freaking firelord and his genius husband are here. like. wtf.

and then it’s their turn and izumi introduces them and sokka, who you’d think might be a bit nervous because public speaking isn’t really his Thing, does amazing, and all the little kids are enthralled hearing about all his inventions and the cool shit he gets up to every day, and he infodumps like crazy but the kids eat it right up. like to them (and they are 100% correct for this), he is the coolest guy on the planet

and then zuko goes, and you’d think he’d be fine. he gives speeches all the time. he argues with councilmen and ambassadors on a daily basis and is highly respected. but something about the twenty 5 year old’s staring expectantly up at him completely rattles him, and he just heard sokka going on about all his inventions, and he gets all flustered and somehow talks about idk taxes or something for like five minutes straight, and the kids are like wow the firelord is the most boring person alive

look I am very passionate about Sokka adopting Izumi and being a fantastic father, which I haven't seen a lot of and I am happy to take on the task

sokka has always intentionally made dad jokes. zuko absorbed the habit by osmosis.

I am not saying that zuko is sokkas substitute for kya. or they look in any way similar! The whole concept here is that something was happening at the moment, be it how they were laying in bed, how the hair pooled over the pillow, or how sokka was able to hold onto it. It just brought sokka back. It triggered a memory, and suddenly he relived a brief memory. Making him suddenly miss his mother again. hope you enjoy!
